At what distance from family houses can a municipal sewage treatment plant be built and what parameters must it have so that the smell does not bother the residents of the houses?
The scope of the special construction authority to carry out water works (i.e. also the wastewater treatment plant) is performed by the relevant water authority, which is governed by Act No. 183/2006 Coll., on spatial planning and building regulations (Building Act), and its implementing regulations. The wastewater treatment plant can therefore be located according to the conditions given in the decision on the location of the building and in the building permit. The CEI does not deal with the location of buildings, it does not have the legal competence to do so.
A well-functioning wastewater treatment plant, i.e. one whose operation is properly taken care of by the operator, does not suffer from odor defects that would disturb the surroundings beyond normal levels.
