The Czech Environmental Inspectorate takes part in a number of international activities in direct connection with the subject of its activities. More detailed information about these activities can be found in the section Foreign cooperation.
The most important activities include international cooperation in environmental law enforcement. Particularly important is the involvement of the CEI in the network of environmental inspections of EU countries and associated countries - IMPEL, where selected employees of the CEI take part in the implementation of European environmental legislation through their participation in international projects.
Another important role of the CEI is work in the international commissions for the protection of the Elbe, Oder and Danube rivers, within which the CEI ensures the function of the international warning center.
A number of territorial inspectorates cooperate within their region with similar organizations in neighboring countries.
The Waste Management Department of the CEI is involved in the control of the import and export of hazardous waste (TFS - Transfrontier Shipment of Waste).
Since 1997, the Nature Protection Department of the CEI has provided an emergency service for the control of international trade in endangered species of plants and animals and the exchange of information on this trade with the signatory countries of the CITES Convention. The Inspectorate is tasked within the expert subgroup of Interpol Wildlife Crime to coordinate this cooperation within the Subgroup for Europe.
